Edward Gallagher, Evangelization

Edward Gallagher, who will be honored with a Lumen Gentium Award in the category of Evangelization has been a strong promoter of the Catholic faith for many years.

Nominated by Father Andrew Messina, pastor of St. Timothy Parish in Warwick, Gallagher is well known for his work with the Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus, Servants for Life and the Days of Evangelization.

“He is very effective yet gentle in his leadership style,” said Father Messina. “He knows how to inspire and encourage others. He never tires in his work for the Lord and has a very strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. Edward Gallagher is an exceptional Catholic.”

Gallagher and his young family emigrated from their native Ireland to Warwick in 1988. After he joined St. Timothy’s Parish, his work in evangelization began.

“It goes without saying, I was hugely honored to receive this award on behalf of the Legion of Mary, it’s Days of Evangelization Team, all the many pastors and hundreds of volunteers that help make these parish-based events such a resounding success,” said Gallagher.

“It is my hope this award can serve as a spiritual injection to uplift and energize all of us in our ongoing evangelization efforts throughout the diocese.”
